A RICH HISTORY OF EXCELLENCE

Xavier is the #1 "best value" among southern regional colleges and universities.

-US News “Best Colleges” Guide 2018

In 2003, the chapter awarded its first scholarship to a Dallas area freshman. Since then, a total of $54,450 has been awarded to 78 students.  The chapter raises money for its scholarship program by holding annual fundraisers. From 2012 -2016, Mardi Gras Balls were the chapter’s primary fundraisers.  Beginning in 2017, the Jazz Scholarship Brunch replaced the ball.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The chapter’s scholarships are awarded to Dallas Area freshmen and continuing students.  All Dallas area students, who will attend Xavier in the fall, are eligible to apply for the chapter’s freshmen scholarships. Applicants are ranked using the following criteria:  Class Rank; GPA; Courses Taken; ACT/SAT scores and an essay.

In 2015 the chapter added the continuing student scholarship category. All Dallas area students entering their second year at Xavier are invited to apply.  Applicants are evaluated on their basis of their academic performance at Xavier and an essay. In September 2018, the chapter created Smith and Janice Howard scholarship to acknowledge the significant contributions the Howards have made to the chapter and Xavier University. This scholarship is awarded to the student selected by the Scholarship Committee as the top freshmen recipient.

The chapter’s scholarship winners are announced at the chapter’s annual Freshmen Reception held in August.
